Our bathroom is simply awesome, a dream come true for most. I have a deep rooted hatred for hard surfaces, so finding a bathroom that doesn’t have anything on it but tile is a dream come true. It’s also much cheaper than having hard surfaces installed.
The decision to choose brass as the finished touch had been a struggle between a wood floor and brass, but I was ultimately inspired by the wood floors I’d seen in the Italianate Bath House, and couldn’t pass up a chance to make this bathroom look as extravagant as it deserved.
The problem with many of the bathroom renovation projects I’ve been a part of is that they rely on the builder to keep the design on track and their taste in material on point. Not so with our bathroom, we got lucky with the builder, who was able to direct the design a bit, but ultimately, the client gets to design the space. That’s something we’re very grateful for, and one we’re glad is in the design, because we weren’t sure how to approach this space with a budget.
As such, the client and I have been working with a basic palette of brass, marble, and a few key wood finishes, with a general sense of what we want and a few of the more interesting finish ideas that we’re looking at. We’re not committed to any of the following finishes, they’re simply ideas to keep in mind for future projects.
