Ryszard "Rysiek" Riedel is an average, easy going and happy Polish guy, who does not fit into the rock 'n' roll scene or in any other scene. He lives with his wife and undertakes a career in local bands, with no real results. On the verge of bankruptcy, he is given a tough task: find a cheap place to buy a Polish flag and to burn it the next day on the 2nd of May.
Arty¹ , a young commune supporter, 5 years younger than Ryszard, is his boss and a friend of his wife. He belongs to those who may be called and self proclaimed members of alternative society and is a little bit of a hippie depending on how one can look at it. He listens to alternative music and he lets Ryszard listen to it too. This friendship is of great influence in Ryszard¹ s life, mainly because he becomes interested in the alternative rock scene and starts to live his fame and eventual fatal heroin addiction as a hippie. Przemek, Ryszard¹s father, has little respect for Ryszard and his music. He had enough of his own life and the life of the family, so he barely shows them attention, letting Ryszard go and behaving as if the train that has left his family has passed him by. After Ryszard¹s mother got sick, Przemek starts to act sad and has less arguments with his son. Suddenly, in 1992, Przemek dies. He is saddened by the sudden death of his wife, by his son leaving him and by what he thinks is his rejection. In this moment Ryszard decides to quit his music and go back home. However, he encounters Magorzata, whom he had not seen since he left the music scene. After a short reunion they get back together and engage in a passionate affair, deceiving everyone around them. Life takes Ryszard back to the music scene, but his career does not get better. No money is made, no fame is achieved, only one concert each year, that of his old band, which he does not take part in. d2c66b5586
