The album peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200 charts while the song of the same name, the only single released from the album, made it to number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the highest-charting single from the album, until it was remade in 2012 and reached number 1 for the first time. The album also peaked at number three on the US Top Hard Rock Albums and Rock Digital Albums charts.
Former bassist of Creed Tim Mackey was announced as a contributor to the album in a December 2007 interview, and served as a music producer and co-writer.[22][23] The album features an all-star cast of musical guest, consisting of Creed bassist Tim Mackey, long-time guitarist and founding member Mark Tremonti of Slipknot,[24] former members of Van Halen, Don Felder,[25] Sammy Hagar, Joe Lynn Turner,[26] Marty Friedman,[27] Richie Kotzen,[28] and former Kiss bassist Eric Carr.[29]
A live, acoustic version of "Another Way to Die" performed with current Creed guitarist Scott Stapp was recorded at Kälteen Studios in March 2008.[30] The version was released on the live DVD/CD/Vinyl Live @Download Festival in October 2008.
The band toured throughout 2007 and 2008 in preparation for the album. For example, they played two shows in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the Barby Club on June 22 and at the Energia in Tel Aviv, Israel, on June 24.[31] They also played a set at the Comse Paree festival in Paris, France, on June 18 and 19.[32]
The Green Day song "Hitchin' a Ride" finds its origins in a demo version of the Creed song mentioned above. A demo version of "Hitchin' a Ride" was performed in concert by Green Day in August 1996 prior to the release of the band's debut album "Dookie".
