9. Make time for family Parents struggling with work-family balance say the biggest stressor is juggling their time, says a new Pew Research Center survey . Parents who have children in the home say that balancing work and family responsibilities is the single biggest stressor that they face. And they are not happy about it: 72% say it is a struggle to balance work and family. In addition, the survey finds, parents say that work-family balance has a strong impact on their health (57%), their family life (56%) and their happiness (54%).
Residential rental prices climbed 10% from 2006 to 2007. Even with that, as much as 70% of renters say they are still unable to afford to buy a home. Many feel that it’s a good time to rent. The median time for a renter to move to a home of their own is now eight years, compared with seven years in 2006. As a result, today’s renters are more than twice as old as today’s buyers.
Concerns about affordability and the large investment in a home are a big reason renters don’t want to buy. They also say they are worried that they wouldn’t be able to sell their property if they did buy a house.
“I’m looking forward to being a homeowner,” says Eva Cho, a 28-year-old who’s been renting for about five years. “I have an excellent salary, so buying a home is something I can do in the future.” 827ec27edc
