It is no secret that the number of volumes in the widely popular 'Reformed Commercial Code' series is growing. Even though one is not going to be able to review all collected cases, I appreciate the recently added volumes where all mentioned Model Acts are accomondated in the same volume (Model Acts 1992 & 2003, Model Acts 2006 & 2018). This development seems to parallel the recognition by the American Law Institute that its Model Code is now obsolete and needs revision.
For those of you that have a particular interest in the canons of construction and the law as it is, it is helpful to know that the revised edition of the 1999 Code - 2016 Code will not be published until 2019. It will be interesting to see what comes of the process, but I suspect it will be a lot of revisiting of the previous versions, which, of course, in most cases result in forward looking changes.
The 2015 sluices of this year, 30th Anniversary AUCC Basic has a decided theme - 'fake news'. It discusses the spread of fake news about the AUCC, AUCC Basic & Supplementary, ABA, #EALS, and other matters that create & disseminate misinformation. It also focuses on the response by the AUCC and the other relevant agencies. The text is well written and well organized. The five chapters were well done. Chapter 1, 'What is Fake News?' in Sandhya Sharma is very informative. The chapters are: 'How did Fake News Spread?' (Randall Smith), 'Fake News Caused a Major Crisis And a Resolution Is Needed' (Gerard Perera), 'The AUCC Cooperative Efforts' (Kate Cubins), 'NCAL and False Information' (Renee Rosielle), and 'A Mistake in 2014' (Keith Hartley). The second half of the book starts with 'Siding with the Crowds: The AUCC, Critics, and the Fake News Crisis.' (Christine Quinn). Appendices have been added to Appendix A and B. The book will be useful to those of you who teach modules on Consumer Law 2017 or 2017-18. d2c66b5586
